Information for Schools and Colleges
I am delighted that all three of my books are studied in schools and colleges internationally. Feedback from both teachers and students is always excellent, and I am told the books never fail to engage the whole class - whether that be the most reluctant of readers, or the most avid of readers. If you would like to share a novel with your students that creates a unique opportunity for debate, and lends itself perfectly to a full range of teaching and learning opportunities, I'm convinced my books will be for you. Please contact me to receive further information, or to enquire about discounts on buying class sets.
In response to schools' requests, I am available to visit educational establishments to work with students. This usually includes delivering readings, question and answer sessions and/or practical work on the creative writing process, but any visit will be tailored to your students' needs. I have also produced a comprehensive, differentiated set of teaching resources for SAFE that are currently available for FREE. Please email me through the contact page if you would like more information regarding any of this, or if you would like a pack of resources - please click here to send me an email. |
What The Teachers Say
'We ordered a class set (of SAFE) and every student that has started the novel has finished it. Thank you! This year I would like to teach all three (of this author's) novels.' English Teacher, J Percy Page High School, Edmonton, Canada I bought this book (SAFE) to use with our group of socially anxious teenagers - some of whom have not been in school for a long time. As the story relates to them and they can see themselves and their friends/family in the situations it's really relevant to them. The worksheets that are available from the author and really good too - differentiated up to three levels for each piece of work, so it works well with different ages and abilities. This is excellent. Teacher, Clear Stone Trust, Hampshire "I thought Kate's visit was absolutely excellent. We didn't get onto the activities that she'd planned in our session because my class just wanted to ask her questions. They seemed really inspired by her and the fact that she was writing about something so close to home. They've also been loving reading her book in class and don't want to stop reading at the end of the lessons - amazing! Brilliant day. Thanks very much." English Teacher, Longley Park College, Yorkshire "Yesterday was excellent. It was a real treat for my ESOL class who don't normally read fiction as part of their course. They were tentative beforehand...but after the session, they wanted to keep on reading and they are now captivated. They didn't feel that they didn't understand, which is usually the case with text I give them, and they really connected to the book. They also really appreciated Kate's introduction to the book and the things she spoke about." English Teacher, Longley Park College, Yorkshire |
