I'v been neglecting to update my blog for ages, as I've been working hard on writing my second book. It's almost, almost finished now, and I'm looking forward to it being published - one way, or indeed the other, - in the not too distant future. I was delighted to receive an email a couple of weeks ago from a teacher in Canada. She told me that her school had bought a class set of SAFE for their students to read and study, and she enquired if there were any teaching resources available to accompany the text. So, obliging as ever, I have now produced a comprehensive, differentiated set of resources that are available for educational establishments to purchase. Please email me through the contact page if you require any further information. Have you read SAFE? If so, please let me know what you thought - I'd love to hear from you. Post Title. 11/21/2009
What I've realised with my new fiction blog is that I don't have that much to say really! So I'll pass on a few things other people have told me instead. Some young people who have read SAFE and kindly responded to my request about recommending other teenage fiction, have enjoyed the following books: The Noughts and Crosses Trilogy by Malorie Blackman - Noughts and Crosses, Knife Edge and Check Mate. (The latest one, Double Cross, got mixed reviews though) Al Capone Does My Shirts by Gennifer Choldenko Nicholas Dane by Melvin Burgess Cirque Du Freak and the whole Darren Shan series by Darren Shan The Twilight series by Stephenie Meyer seemed to have a Marmite response - with readers either absolutely loving it, or completely hating it! These were the books that young readers talked about most by far, and I'll add other recommendations as they arise. HAVE YOU GOT 'SAFE' IN YOUR SCHOOL? More and more schools are buying class sets of SAFE and studying it as part of their English curriculum. If yours hasn't, why don't you suggest it to your English teacher? Post Title. 06/10/2009
Hello all - and welcome back to my new teenage fiction blog. I've received some lovely emails this week from people who have read SAFE and thought it 'rocked!' So, a public thanks for these. Also, I really appreciate the 5* reviews that the book has received on Amazon and Waterstones; all you readers/reviewers are great! Thanks to everyone so far! 06/04/2009
Thanks to everyone who has bought SAFE and especially those people who have emailed to tell me how much they've enjoyed reading it. I'm delighted that so many young people are "lovin' readin'" the book and that it is appealing to such a wide range of people - everyone from young teenagers to great grandparents are telling me how fantastic it is!
